FAQ

Are there any age restrictions for hire?

Anyone under 18 years of age using hire craft must do so under the supervision of a parent/guardian.

Anyone under 14 years of age using hire craft must be accompanied by an adult whilst on the water.

Is there a weight limit for water craft?

The weight limit for a single kayak is approximately 15st/95kg, for a double kayak is 25st/160kg. If you are close to the weight limit, please let us know - we can rig a double kayak to be paddled as a single so you can still enjoy time on the water. The weight limit for our SUPs is approximately 23st /150kg.

Can I paddle anywhere from the beach?

There is a designated area for paddlesports hire. You will be given a paddle talk and safety briefing when you collect your craft.

Do I need to wear anything specific to hire?

Buoyancy aids will be provided with your craft and must be worn at all times. We recommend sensible footwear (trainers or beach shoes).

Are there time restrictions for hire?

Please book for the time you would like to use the craft.

Late return of hired equipment affects other bookings and will result in additional charges equivalent to the hourly rate of the craft.

We recommend that you wear a watch or take a phone with you to keep track of time.

Where do I collect my hire equipment?

Our Beach Hire Centre is located on Porthpean Beach. Parking is available in the beach car park. Please arrive 5 minutes before your hire slot to ensure you get the maximum time on the water.

Can I get off and explore?

Yes! There are plenty of coves within the paddle area to stop off at and explore.

Do you have lockers?

We suggest that you leave valuables in your car as we do not have storage facilities.

Are dogs allowed?

Unfortunately dogs are not permitted on any of our water craft and there is a seasonal dog ban on the beach.

Will the weather affect my hire booking?

A sunny day doesn't always provide the safest conditions for being on the water. We monitor the weather conditions closely and will endeavour to let you know if conditions are unsuitable. Occasionally we have to cancel bookings on the day if conditions change. We will always try to rearrange your session for you where possible.
